Myths vs. Facts in the war of Type1 Diabetes

💟 There are some myths that I have encountered on my ongoing adventurous safari with Type 1 Diabetes. MYTH#1 People with Type 1 Diabetes can’t eat sugar. FACT Type 1 Diabetics are always recommended to have a balanced diet that adds more colors to their meals. It includes the optimal amount of natural sugar with adjustable insulin doses as it acts as fuel to the body. MYTH#2 Type 1 Diabetes is caused by eating excess sugar. FACT This autoimmune disorder holds no cause-and-effect relationship with the eating habits of the person. It can occur at any age and only a healthy lifestyle makes its treatment easier. MYTH#3 Insulin is the cure for Type 1 Diabetes. FACT Insulin is not the cure but a treatment until we find a cure.   How do you control your emotions? As an amateur leisure artist, I never try to control my emotions. I always strive to reduce the severity by which I respond to an emotional state. Happiness, anger, anxiety, etc., are natural phenomena that need an expression with the right zeal.   What changed after and before when you knew you got diabetes? Except for lifestyle and outlook, everything remains the same after getting acquainted with Type 1 Diabetes, switching from being a planner to a doer, substituting ‘should’ with ‘want,’ eating dessert to cooking and serving dessert. My 12 years journey with Type 1 Diabetes

❤ The whole world turned upside down when doctors told me that I need to inject myself 3-5 times a day for my entire life to survive with no other option at the age of 12. My journey with Type 1 Diabetes starts here.🚴 Since no permanent cure available, this autoimmune disease has much to deal with lifestyle apart from injecting insulin. Handling Hyperglycemia and midnight Hypoglycemia is not less than a roller coaster ride for a person living with Type 1 Diabetes. Gradually developing the habit of swallowing bitterness of bitter gourd juice and soaked fenugreek seeds, I was welcomed in this new world 11 years ago. The blood sugar levels are severely affected by every decision I make, from food to sleeping hours, from work out to insulin dosage. Each wrong decision can pour cold water on my efforts to maintain targeted blood sugar levels.
